Discovery Camp Themes (2017)

July 10-14 To be Determined

July 17-21 To be Determined

July 24-28 "Experience Science" with Roger Reynolds

Bubbling potions, mini explosions and more will awe and amaze. It’s not magic, it’s science. You’ll investigate chemical reactions, states of matter, the science of sound, forces in the environment . . . and that’s just the start!

July 31-August 4 "History in Motion" with Daniel Crawford (tentative)

Come experience the joy of bringing your creativity to life. Campers will learn the full stop-motion animation process from character creation and story-boarding to camera set-up and shooting. Exploring the museum's wonder-inspiring resources, students will use paper, paint and clay to create animated stories of real and imagined histories by bringing artifacts to life and more! At the end of the week, each camper will receive a video file of their animated work to share with family and friends.

Aug 8-11 "Think Outside - Let's Get Out and Play" with Nancy Thomson

Fun in the forest is the focus of the week! Who are the creatures that live in our backyard and share the world with us? What is it like to be them? Campers will investigate these questions as they make connections to the natural world through forest games, nature crafts, survival skills and more! Come explore the outdoors in this action packed program.

Aug 14-18 "P.O.P. Drama Production" with Ray Henderson

The P.O.P. Drama project proudly presents YOU as writer, director and performer in your very own dramatic work. Under the expert direction of Peterborough’s Ray Henderson you’ll have fun creating a script, developing characters, designing costumes, building sets, conducting rehearsals - everything required to stage a real production. At the end of the week, invitations go out to family and friends and its Show Time!
