McIntosh Family

Alexander McIntosh, with his wife and son John, emigrated from Scotland to settle in North Monaghan Township, Ontario in 1887. The farm remained in the family for almost 140 years. Hairstyles, clothes and studio backdrop suggest that the portrait of four generations of McIntosh females was taken around 1888. The elderly woman (right) is probably Alexander's widow. On the left may be her daughter-in-law Mary. The youngest woman is possibly Jane Eliza, daughter-in-law of Mary and the youngest is likely Jane Eliza's daughter Mabel Albinia.
