“Voices Of the Town: Vaudeville In Canada”
The Museum is pleased to announce that its traveling exhibition entitled Voices
of the Town: Vaudeville in Canada, will be on display at several Ontario museums and heritage
sites in 2010. First stop is the
Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres in Toronto. Owned and
operated by the Ontario Heritage Trust, the Vaudeville-era
theatre carries special distinction as the last operating double-decker theatre in the world.
Arranged in partnership with
Theatre Museum Canada, the exhibit will be made
available for viewing in Toronto until the end of January 2010.
Voices Of the Town: Vaudeville In Canada then continues its tour, making stops at the following museums:
- Spruce Row Museum in Waterford, Ontario from Feb. 8th to Apr. 2nd;
- Nepean Museum in Nepean, Ontario from Apr. 13 to Jun. 4th;
- Annandale National Historic Site in Tillsonburg, Ontario from Jun. 7th to Aug. 27th; and
- Clarington Museum & Archives in Bomanville, Ontario from Oct. to Dec. 31st.

“The Noble Experiment”
The Peterborough Museum & Archives produced this exhibition in 2000 as part of the award-winning Traveling Exhibition Partnership Project. Following some time out of regular circulation to serve as part of a community outreach program, it is again available for rent beginning in 2010.
The Noble Experiment: Temperance and Prohibition will be making stops at the following museums:
- Church Street School Cultural Centre in Aurora, Ontario from Jan. 18th to Mar. 29th;
- Grimsby Museum in Grimsby, Ontario from Apr. 2nd to Jun. 18th;
- City of Waterloo Museum in Waterloo, Ontario from Jul. 1 to Aug. 25th

Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance for the City and County of Peterborough commemorates the names of Peterborough men and women who gave their lives in the First World War, Second World War, and the Korean conflict. In 2000 it was restored by the Peterborough Museum & Archives, and is on permanent display at Peterborough City Hall. It is also available to view as a virtual exhibition.
The Kidd Photograph Collection
This photographic collection of over 700 Roy Studio Prints of Peterborough area military personnel (1939-1945) was acquired by the Peterborough Museum & Archives in 1995 through a private donation. Prints from the collection are on public display in the lobby at Peterborough City Hall.
